Nancy Brian

Nancy Brian explored the Grand Canyon as a Prescott College student, hiking the Inner Canyon trails and boating the Colorado River. After graduation, she worked for Grand Canyon NP as a biological technician. For her master’s thesis, she studied the coyote willow community between Lees Ferry and Diamond Creek. She guided and worked for Colorado River commercial companies including OARS, Expeditions, Arizona River Runners, Hatch River Expeditions, Arizona Raft Adventures, and Canyoneers. She was a fishery technician for Arizona State University’s Little Colorado River humpback chub study. In her government career, she was the park botanist for Grand Canyon National Park, biologist for the Glen Canyon Environmental Studies, technician for the Colorado River synoptic water quality study, district botanist for the Coos Bay District, and an endangered species specialist for the Biological Resources Division. She owns Earthquest Press and published the first two editions of River to Rim in 1992 and 2015. She lives mostly in the Anthropocene Epoch.
